October 14, 2006Amy & Josh- Cabin Fever
October 7, 2006

Almost a decade has passed before this pair. They met while working at a restaurant Josh fondly remembers as “the local hangout, you know like the Peach Pit on 90210.”
Josh worked behind the scenes in the kitchen, and Amy was a server up front. Having worked in many restaurants in the past, I know what this translates to. Josh was one of those “Fozzie Bear” types, a wacky fun loving guy making most of life behind the scenes. Wocka wocka wocka! And, of course teasing the cute servers, namely, Ms. Amy Kleven.
He was in college, she was in high school, and he asked her if she might want to go out someday? “He was open mouthed that I didn’t do cartwheels when he asked me out,” says Amy.
There first date sounded pretty excellent. A riverboat cruise down the St. Croix, dining at a fabulous Stillwater restaurant. These two know how to do a date right!
When these two started to get “serious” Josh wanted Amy to know that he had his own “international standard criteria.” Translation? Amy must like being up North, hanging out in a cabin, by Bay Lake in Brainerd, MN.
Josh’s grandfather built a cabin on Bay Lake in 1934 and his family has been vacationing there as long as he can remember. Josh worked as a lifeguard at the Ruttger’s Resort, and he and Amy now operate the Lonesome Pine Restaurant. Josh has so many fond memories of his time at the lake, and clearly states, “It’s made me who I am today.”
Consequently, Amy and Josh knew there was no question they would be married at Ruttger’s.
Amy and Josh were married on a beautiful Autumn day on the shores of Bay Lake. Amy was absolutely breathtaking in her amazing silk dress that she purchased in Spain.
Josh, the parents of the couple, and the attendants all arrived to the ceremony site in vintage Criss Craft wooden speedboats, restored to mint condition.
After saying their vows under a Maple canopy of greens and golds, fireworks punctuated the officiant’s declaration of marriage with a bang!
The bridal party moved the party to a couple of pontoons, breezing around the beautiful blue waters, basking in the sun, drinking champagne and Josh passing out meatballs.
After an amusing boat ride around the lake, the bridal party met up with guests who were enjoying the autumn day on the lawn drinking cocktails and eating delightful nibbles.
Dinner was served in the main lodge which had been transformed into an intimate sophisticated ballroom by the wonderful people at Event Lab.
The place was truly inspirational, and had Amy written all over it. People ate, drink, laughed, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
A nice touch was when the bride and groom and attendants came around to the guests to serve the delectable cake. So neat!
After dessert came the real treat, an incredible band the R Factor got everybody in the mood. It was a night no one was to forget, even a decade later. We all had that up North feeling, maybe even a touch of Cabin Fever.
